Minutes later, a magnitude 5.2 earthquake hit Sumbas district in Osmaniye at a depth of 7 kilometers.

AFAD said no adverse situation had been reported and that field survey operations were continuing. The tremors were also felt in neighboring provinces.

The affected region was among those hit by the devastating February 2023 earthquakes, which killed more than 53,500 people in Turkiye and nearly 6,000 in neighboring Syria.
