Two Iranian cargo ships carrying the main chemical ingredient for missile propellant will set sail from China to Iran in the coming weeks.
Axar.az informs that, this was reported by the Financial Times, citing intelligence information from the security services of two Western countries.
According to sources, the Iranian-flagged ships "Golbon" and "Jairan" will carry more than 1,000 tons of sodium perchlorate, which is used to make ammonium perchlorate, a key component for solid propellant for missiles.
It is also reported that it will be possible to obtain 960 tons of ammonium perchlorate, which constitutes 70% of the propellant for solid-fuel missile, from sodium perchlorate.
"With this amount of ammonium perchlorate, 1,300 tons of propellant can be produced, which would be enough to fuel 260 medium-range missiles, such as Iran's 'Khaybar Shekan' or 'Haji Qasim,'" officials added.
