Vital issues for the region were discussed during a meeting between President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the president of Syria’s transitional government, Ahmed al-Sharaa, which took place in Ankara.

Axar.az reports that this information was shared by the "Turkiye" newspaper.

It was reported that decisions were made on strategic partnerships in many areas, from defense and infrastructure to transportation and energy.

The following important steps will be taken, according to the publication:

A comprehensive report will be prepared on the reconstruction of each province of Syria;

Agreements have been made on maritime transport, reconstruction and operation of ports, and continental shelf agreements;

Military and civilian personnel training will be carried out parallel to the establishment of Turkish bases in the PKK-occupied zone, Khums, and the Mediterranean, as well as in Latakia-Tartus;

Mobile communication infrastructure will be supported by Turkish companies and government agencies;

The railway from Turkiye to Damascus will be restored;

The Hatay-Mersin-Latakia-Tartus maritime port corridor will be launched with special status;

Operations against ISIS may begin soon. In this context, Syrian airspace will officially be opened to Turkish military aircraft and drones.
