The European Union (EU) has taken note of US President Donald Trump's statements on the Gaza Strip and confirmed its commitment to a two-state solution to the conflict.

Axar.az informs that this was stated by Anwar al-Anuni, the press secretary of the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, at a briefing in Brussels.

"The European Union remains committed to the two-state solution, which we consider to be the only solution for long-term peace for both Israelis and Palestinians. Gaza is an integral part of the future Palestinian state," he noted.

The press secretary added that, according to the EU's position, the forced displacement of the Palestinian population in Gaza should not be allowed.

According to al-Anuni, Brussels assesses the achievement of a ceasefire as a positive development in the situation.

"However, now it is necessary to move on to the next stages to completely stop hostilities and bring peace and stability to the region," he said.

It should be noted that Trump has repeatedly stated that the residents of the Gaza Strip should be resettled to Egypt, Jordan, or other countries. He has stated that the United States is ready to take control of the enclave, conduct demining work there, and restore infrastructure.
