Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian, during a meeting with senior Chinese officials, asked Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to soften his stance on negotiations with the United States.

Axar.az informs that the New York Times reported on this.

It was reported that after a meeting lasting several hours, the Supreme Leader listened to the president's request and agreed to direct talks between Tehran and Washington, first through mediators, and if the outcome suits the Iranian side, then directly.

At the same time, the publication writes that Khamenei set several conditions for the negotiations. In particular, he allowed the discussion of Tehran's nuclear program, including the idea of monitoring mechanisms, but noted that Iran's missile program is part of the country's defense system and is not a subject of discussion.
