High-level trade and economic discussions between China and the United States have officially begun in Geneva, as announced by China Central Television.

Axar.az reports that the Chinese delegation is being led by Vice Premier He Lifeng, while U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin heads the American delegation.

The talks come amid escalating trade tensions, with U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods reaching 145%, while China has imposed retaliatory tariffs of 125% on U.S. products. Additionally, U.S. President Donald Trump imposed a 10% tariff on imports from 185 countries on April 2, although the implementation of further tariffs was temporarily suspended for certain nations for 90 days.
