The UN Secretary-General's refusal to come to Moscow on May 9 seriously failed Russian diplomacy.

Axar.az reports that the Russian "Yozh" Telegram channel published information about this, citing a source.

"The Presidential Administration and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have been working on the list of high-ranking guests of the May 9 parade for almost a year. Antonio Guterres was also on the list of those invited," the report said.

It was reported that the Kremlin also informed that Guterres would not visit Moscow on May 9:

"But the Russian Foreign Ministry hopes Guterres will change his decision."

It should be noted that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres last attended the BRICS summit in Kazan in October 2024.
