Russia has banned 21 British parliamentarians from entering the country.
Axar.az reports citing the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
It stated that, in response to London's continued confrontational course, a decision was made to include several members of the British Parliament in Russia's "stop list."
The ministry noted that the comprehensive nature of the UK’s anti-Russian sanctions and the hysterical statements made by its officials indicate that London is not planning to abandon its choice in favor of open confrontation with Russia.
Russophobia and efforts to undermine Russian statehood remain integral parts of British foreign policy, which is entirely subordinated to the task of causing as much harm as possible to Russia’s national interests.
The hostile statements and groundless accusations coming from British parliamentarians—including public calls for the confiscation of “frozen” Russian assets in Western jurisdictions—not only reinforce London’s hostile stance but are also being used by opponents of a mutually respectful dialogue to undermine the foundations of bilateral cooperation. “We are closely monitoring such rhetoric and will draw appropriate conclusions,” the statement read.
Official Moscow has also published the list of banned UK lawmakers.
