"Demonstrators damaged the prefecture building and threw objects at law enforcement agencies. The police responded by using water cannons and tear gas," the report said.
It was also noted that the police detained several people.
In addition, the prefecture of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region reported that clashes had occurred between police and demonstrators in Lyon.
According to the prefecture, 6.5 thousand people participated in the May Day demonstration in Lyon. Trade unions estimate that 10 thousand demonstrators took to the streets.
Three people were detained during the demonstration.
It should be noted that it was previously reported that up to 150,000 people were expected to participate in the May 1 demonstrations in France.
