US team plans first dig at Mount Ararat’s ship-shaped hill

A U.S. research group called Noah’s Ark Scan plans to conduct the first controlled excavation at the Durupınar Site on Mount Ararat, believed by some to be the resting place of Noah’s Ark.

Axar.az, citing JP, reports that using ground-penetrating radar, the team detected a “rectangular structure” several meters underground that matches the biblical dimensions of the Ark.

Excavation will begin after coordinating with local Turkish universities and creating a preservation plan to determine whether the structure is natural or man-made.
