Pentagon rushes to set guidelines for Marines amid LA immigration raid protests.
Axar.az, citing the Associated Press, reports that the Pentagon is urgently working to establish clear rules for U.S. Marines who may be faced with the rare and sensitive task of potentially using force against American citizens.
This comes as the Trump administration deploys active-duty troops in response to immigration raid protests in Los Angeles.
According to U.S. Northern Command, around 700 Marines are being sent to the Los Angeles area to protect federal property and personnel, including immigration agents. The deployment involves the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, based in Twentynine Palms, California, and supplements the approximately 4,100 National Guard members already in or authorized to deploy to the city.
Northern Command stated that the deployed forces have received training in de-escalation tactics, crowd control, and the rules of engagement regarding the use of force.
