On September 27, 2020, the Azerbaijani Army conducted a counter-offensive to prevent another provocation by the Armenian armed forces. The 44-day war led by Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev ended with the complete victory of Azerbaijan and the restoration of its territorial integrity.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov at the opening ceremony of the Turkish-Russian Joint Monitoring Center built in the liberated Aghdam region.

He recalled that a ceasefire was achieved with a trilateral statement signed between the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia and the Prime Minister of Armenia on November 10 last year.
