On April 24, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov, met with the Minister of Defense of Georgia, Mr. Juansher Burchuladze, who is on an official visit to our country.

First, the Georgian guests, who paid tribute to the memory of the children of the Motherland who died for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, laid a wreath in front of the "Eternal Torch" monument in Martyrs' Alley.

Then an official welcoming ceremony was held at the Ministry of Defense. The Minister of Defense of Georgia passed in front of the honor guard, the national anthems of both countries were played and the "Book of Honor" was signed in accordance with the protocol.

General-Colonel Z. Hasanov greeted the guests and expressed his pleasure to see them in our country. Emphasizing that the meetings of the heads of state play an important role in the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia, the Minister of Defense noted that our relations have strengthened and developed in the military field as well as in many fields.

The Minister of Defense informed his colleague about the provocations committed by Armenia in order to escalate the situation on the Azerbaijan-Armenia conditional border and in the territory of Azerbaijan, where the Russian peacekeeping contingent is temporarily stationed.

Expressing his satisfaction with his visit to Azerbaijan, Mr. J. Burchuladze drew attention to the traditional friendship and mutual trust between our peoples. He emphasized the importance of regularly holding such meetings and expanding relations in the development of relations between the two friendly countries.

The parties discussed in detail the provision of peace and security in the region, further expansion of cooperation in the fields of military, military technical, military education and other issues of mutual interest.

At the meeting, they talked about the development prospects of bilateral and trilateral military cooperation between Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia, and also exchanged detailed views on increasing the intensity of joint exercises and working meetings.

"Agreement on cooperation in the field of defense between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of Georgia" was signed at the meeting.

At the end, mutual gifts were presented and a commemorative photo was taken.
