New gas routes boost regional supply Ukraine

The national energy regulators of Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova and Ukraine have approved new routes 2 and 3, strengthening regional connectivity and security of supply.

Axar.az reports that the routes, developed with the participation of the ICGB (Interconnection Operator for Greece-Bulgaria), allow for gas supplies, in particular via the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), which transports gas from Azerbaijan to Greece, Albania and Italy.

The routes will be available on the Regional Booking Platform (RBP) from December 22, and ICGB is offering a 46% discount on the standard monthly price to encourage use.

“This is the result of coordinated management and technical work in close cooperation with operators in the countries along the vertical gas corridor axis and the European Commission. ICGB has played a leading role in the development and implementation of new products to ensure flexible, reliable and diversified access to gas for the region, especially to support Ukraine at a critical moment,” said ICGB Executive Directors Georgi Satlas and Teodora Georgieva.
