Turkiye and Azerbaijan sign 15-year gas supply agreement

Turkiye and Azerbaijan have signed an agreement for the supply of approximately 33 billion cubic meters of natural gas over 15 years.

Axar.az reports that this was announced by Turkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar.

According to the minister, the agreement was signed on January 2 and will be in effect from 2029 to 2040.

“Under the contract, 2.25 billion cubic meters of gas will be transported annually from the ‘Absheron’ field in the Caspian Sea to Turkiye. Gas supplies will be delivered via the existing Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline,” Bayraktar said.

According to Turkiye’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), under current contracts, Azerbaijan exported 9.798 billion cubic meters of gas to Turkiye between January and October 2025, which is 3.5 percent more than during the same period last year.
