Ukraine signs first Azerbaijani gas deal

The company, which is part of the Naftogaz group, has signed a contract for the purchase of Azerbaijani gas for the first time with SOCAR Group's Ukrainian subsidiary, SOCAR Energy Ukraine.

Axar.az reports that the first test shipment of Azerbaijani gas is being carried out via the Trans-Balkan route - via the Bulgaria-Romania-Ukraine corridor.

"This is a small-scale, but strategically important step, and paves the way for long-term cooperation. At the same time, it is another example of diversifying supply sources and strengthening Ukraine's energy security," said Serhiy Koretsky, CEO of Naftogaz.

He expressed gratitude to the President of Ukraine, the government, and the Ministry of Energy for their support in reaching this agreement, and also expressed gratitude to the partners from Azerbaijan for the trust they have shown.
