The conflict in Azerbaijan's occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region is a long-lasting one, and there are mechanisms and formats for its settlement, said Russia's Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, RIA Novosti reported Apr. 8.

"Unfortunately, the conflict has been dragging on since 1994, and there are mechanisms and formats, as well as proposals and a group engaged in all this," he said, adding now the most important thing is to fully use everything achieved regarding this conflict throughout the recent years.

"Now, it would be twice more dangerous to create something new, because by doing so we would ruin all the work done," he added.

Medvedev also said it is necessary to return to the negotiations table and start consultations.
