Photos of a new Russian military base around the city of Sisyan in the southeastern Armenian province of Syunik (Zangazur) have been released.

Axar.az reports that the photos were published by the Russian website avia.pro. According to the photos, Russian Air Force helicopters were stationed at the facility, and Russian and Armenian flags were hung. Sources told the website that several hundred Russian servicemen were also stationed there.

Defense Minister Vagharshak Harutyunyan recently spoke about the deployment of a second Russian military base in Armenia. He said talks were underway to expand Russia's 102nd base and deploy part of its forces in the southern province of Syunik.

There are no official statements from the Armenian side regarding the photos.
