Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, visited the headquarters of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) in Rabat, Morocco. During a meeting on October 14 with ISESCO's Director General Salim bin Mohammed Al-Malik, they discussed the activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, cooperation between Azerbaijan and ISESCO, as well as joint projects.

Axar.az reports that the collaboration between the Foundation and ISESCO in the context of COP29, which will be held in our country in November, and issues related to the organization's representation at COP29 with a pavilion were key topics of discussion.

During the meeting, information was also provided about the ecological projects implemented by the IDEA Public Union, founded and led by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The future cooperation between ISESCO and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the field of environmental protection was discussed.

Following this, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and ISESCO for an education and social support project for displaced girls and orphanages in Burkina Faso. The document was signed by Anar Alakbarov, Executive Director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and Salim bin Mohammed Al-Malik, Director General of ISESCO. The project's goal is to provide female students with necessary resources, mentorship, and a safe, supportive environment. This aims to address issues such as access to quality education, life skills training, and emotional support, promoting personal development and resilience. The project will also include organizing seminars and establishing computer classrooms and libraries in schools. The project is set to last until October 2025 and will cover several cities in Burkina Faso.

The delegation later visited the Museum of the Prophet and Islamic Civilization established at ISESCO's headquarters in Rabat. Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, wrote heartfelt words in the museum's guestbook.

Azerbaijan has been a member of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), a prestigious international cultural and humanitarian organization representing over 50 Muslim states, since 1991. Since then, relations have further expanded, particularly with the recognition of Azerbaijan's First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva as a goodwill ambassador of ISESCO in 2006.

There is also close cooperation between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, led by Mehriban Aliyeva, and ISESCO. The work and projects carried out by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, which prioritizes the development of education, culture, and healthcare, align with ISESCO's main areas of activity, allowing both organizations to further expand their collaboration in many fields.

In May of this year, a memorandum was signed between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and ISESCO regarding the exchange of experiences in the fields of culture, science and education, and the development of new technologies in Shusha, which has been designated as the cultural capital of the Islamic world for 2024. This memorandum can be seen as a significant step toward expanding their cooperation and implementing joint projects.
