The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, has addressed the UN Security Council Open Debate on “Maintenance of international peace and security: Upholding the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter and Strengthening the UN-centered International System.”

He emphasized that the principles of sovereign equality, territorial integrity, and non-interference in internal affairs must remain the foundation of international relations, without selectivity or double standards.
The minister also underlined the need for comprehensive UN reforms, including making the Security Council more representative, accountable, and responsive to current geopolitical realities.
Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan, having itself suffered from violations of international law and the prolonged consequences of conflict, understands the importance of justice, accountability, and effective multilateral cooperation. He added that Azerbaijan continues to actively contribute to regional stability and peacebuilding through practical initiatives and international engagement.
He concluded that Azerbaijan remains committed to strengthening genuine multilateralism and promoting constructive cooperation through international platforms.
