At the Munich Security Conference, Armenian President Nikol Pashinyan's referring to the Armenian Tigran, after the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev reminded of the 20th anniversary of Nagorno-Karabakh, has led to some investigations.

Axar.az reports it is obvious that the Great Tigran, which has never been remembered as a great military commander, has nothing to do with the Armenians. But the point is that Nikol Pashinyan`s "reference" to fake history has once again brought his articles to the agenda.

Nikol Pashinyan published this article in the newspaper Aykakan Jamanak on December 9, 2005.

We present the article as it is:

“The most popular addresses to the Armenian people from political and scientific tribunals are about the need to take lessons from history. The Armenian people firmly refuse to listen to their intellectuals, and the call for a conclusion from history is becoming more and more popular. This may be because the intellectual who called to take a lesson from history began to write legends about the heroic history of the Armenian people, praising and glorifying our ancestors. Generally, it is a completely different matter to objectively evaluate our ancestors and to praise them.

Let us stop praising our ancestors and ask ourselves a very pragmatic question: What did these ancestors have left to us, what have they left behind?

Nothing more than nothing. Because "nothing" is what we need to start from below negatives, but we don`t know to start from which negative point. Because our ancestors simply inherited the reserve of genocide, humiliation, betrayal, and immorality. It seems to be very difficult to overcome.

I condemn and curse our fathers. Because they have done nothing to make us live more dignified and proud today.

Our ancestors did not take care of the next generations at least as animals as instinctively recorded their offspring. I condemn anyone who praises our ancestors. It simply denies the right of the next generations to have a decent and strong homeland and those they gift us who live currently, nothing to inherit to future generations. They are just praising the Great Tigran who trampled his throne for the Roman Empire and from that time over two thousand years, who was betrayed by his own son who hadn`t learned any morality like arrogant officer sons. And since that time they trigger this endless process.

I cursed my ancestors. Because they allowed an Iranian provincial scientist to walk through the streets of Isfahan to tell us that Shah Abbas had expelled Armenians from Juqa (Julfa) and urged them to build a city here. What lesson can we take from this history? Some people are proud of this story: "So, the Armenians were builders." It is not known that these builders were driven from one place to another, and some of them remained on the road, turning the Iranian deserts into sacred places of Armenians.

How can we conclude our own history?

Sometimes I understand historians who portray our degrading and humiliating history as heroic acts. They think that true history can break us down and humiliate us. But fraud is more destructive and doesn't allow us to stand up and break our millennial humiliation. So, what can we draw from our history?

Let's forget it. Let's start with everything from scratch. It seems that God has just created us and we have not existed in the past. Imagine how easy it is to breathe. Let's imagine that Mesrop Mashtots has just created our letters, Narekatsi, maybe Mkhitar Gosh, David Anacht and a few more of our relatives live with us and there is nothing more. Let`s leave the rest in the past. Let them do as much as they want, let them betray each other, be driven out, subjected to genocide and humiliated. Only, in that case, we can draw a conclusion from our own history, because it will no longer be our history.”
