Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian as part of his participation in the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.
Axar.az during the meeting, the ministers exchanged views on the current state of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and France, and expressed mutual interest in developing relations, especially in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres.
Informing his interlocutor about the large-scale restoration and construction work carried out in the territories liberated from Armenian occupation, Bayramov gave detailed information about the facts of purposeful destruction of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia, looting and falsification of cultural heritage during the occupation.
The humanitarian consequences of decades of deliberate pollution of the liberated territories by Armenia with mines and other explosives, which are a major threat to human life, have been brought to the attention of the other side. They stressed the importance of Armenia's fulfillment of international humanitarian law obligations to hand over accurate maps of mined areas to Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, Bayramov also expressed support for the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan on the basis of the principles of international law and informed about the steps taken by our country in this direction. It was stressed that Azerbaijan is ready to cooperate with all parties who intend to contribute to strengthening peace and security in the region.
The ministers also exchanged views on current issues on the international agenda, including cooperation between the two countries within international organizations.
