Since the 44-day war, during the past 3 years, Azerbaijan has repeatedly stated that it is ready to ensure all the rights of all ethnic groups, including Armenians, provided for in the legislation and constitution.
Axar.az reports that Aykhan Hajizadeh, head of the press service department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, said this in an interview with "The Insider" publication.
He said that official Baku considers ethnic Armenians living in the Karabakh region to be a part of Azerbaijani society:
"We are always ready to protect their rights and safety in accordance with national legislation."
A. Hajizade noted that Armenia has not yet complied with Article 4 of the Trilateral Declaration dated November 10, 2020: "The Armenian armed forces were supposed to withdraw in parallel with the deployment of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, but this was not done. During the last few days, six policemen and two civilians were killed as a result of the provocation-intelligence operation of Armenian troops, which led to military escalation."
The official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Azerbaijan used high-precision weapons during its local anti-terrorist measures in Karabakh:
"Almost no civilian objects were hit. However, if we look at the 44-day large-scale war, we will see that the losses among the civilian population on the Azerbaijani side were much higher than the losses on the Armenian side. This means that Azerbaijan has never targeted the civilian population.
