We strongly condemn the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia dated September 27, which misleads the international community about the 44-day Patriotic War, as well as the measures taken after the war.
Axar.az reports that these views were reflected in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan on the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.
With this statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia continues to spread false narratives, denying its responsibility for the military aggression and occupation of Azerbaijani territories for more than 30 years, mass massacres committed against Azerbaijan and crimes against humanity.
Azerbaijan's war against the occupation and aggression of Armenia has always been just, and in September of this year, Azerbaijan's anti-terrorist measures legitimately eliminated the threat posed by the illegal Armenian armed forces stationed in Azerbaijan in clear violation of all norms and principles of international law.
Moreover, contrary to the lies of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and unlike Armenia itself, Azerbaijan has never targeted the peaceful Armenian population.
As for the baseless statements about Azerbaijan's unwillingness to resolve the situation by political and diplomatic means, we would like to remind the Armenian side that this country has nullified all peace efforts not only during the 30-year occupation but also during the post-conflict period.
Against the background of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement on September 21 that there is no direct threat to the civilian population, the fact that the Armenian MFA is still spreading information about the local Armenian population being subjected to "ethnic cleansing" clearly demonstrates how inconsistent and false Armenia's policies and narratives are.
We reiterate that Azerbaijan has nothing to do with the decision of local Armenian residents living in the Karabakh region to move to Armenia or another country. We are ready to create conditions for them to live better than when they were hostages of the military junta created by Armenia. Azerbaijan is determined to reintegrate its Armenian residents as citizens with equal rights, and the Constitution of Azerbaijan, national legislation, and international commitments we have accepted provide a solid foundation for achieving this goal.
We understand how painful it is for Armenia to see how the separatist regime established on the territories of Azerbaijan crumbles and disappears before its eyes, but now it would be better for them to focus on building peace and trust with Azerbaijan, based on respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty, both in word and deed.
