The US State Department refused to call the withdrawal of Armenians from Karabakh "ethnic cleansing".

Axar.az reports that Matthew Miller, the spokesman of the State Department, said this.

He said that the United States takes allegations of "ethnic cleansing", "genocide" and other atrocities seriously.

"We are in contact with the situation. We will not hesitate to take appropriate action to respond to allegations of brutality and hold perpetrators accountable when we have evidence that it has occurred. But as always, the decision to commit genocide or ethnic cleansing is a deliberate, evidence-based process. I definitely can't talk about it right now."
