Iran's policy towards Armenia will remain unchanged after the change of power.
Axar.az reports that Tehran's ambassador to Yerevan, Mehdi Subhani, said this while answering an Armenian journalist's question about the fact that one of the candidates for the post of the country's president is an Azerbaijani.
"Iran's policy regarding Armenia is principled, aimed at the development and expansion of cooperation and mutual activity. This policy will not change with the change of government," he said.
The ambassador emphasized that during the election campaign, all the candidates presented their programs to develop relations with neighboring countries. He noted that many ethnic groups live in Iran, but this does not affect the country's national policy:
"Iran remains a friend of Armenia and will continue to develop relations with Yerevan under the new government."
It should be noted that the second round of presidential elections is being held in Iran today. In the second round, the leader of the first round, the reformist and Azerbaijani Masud Pezeshkian, and his opponent, the representative of the conservative wing, Said Jalili, are competing.
