Today, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the UN Deputy Secretary General, Amina Mohammadi.

It was reported that during the meeting, the current situation and prospects of Azerbaijan-UN relations, preparatory processes related to the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), priorities of Azerbaijan's COP29 presidency were discussed.
Drawing attention to the importance of Azerbaijan's role in multilateral diplomacy, as well as in UN institutions, the UN Deputy Secretary General highly appreciated the activities of our country in organizing COP29. In addition, the importance of the final document adopted during the Summit of the Future, which includes elements such as peace and security, new technologies, and the financial architecture of the future, was emphasized.
The parties then reviewed the achievements of our country in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and noted with satisfaction the significant progress in this work.
Minister J. Bayramov gave detailed information about the process of negotiations conducted within the framework of COP29, chaired by Azerbaijan, and emphasized the importance of consensus for the determination of a new quantitative financial target for meeting the financial resources required in the fight against climate change. The parties emphasized the importance of the support of the UN and international financial institutions in this direction. At the same time, support for 14 initiatives put forward by the COP29 presidency in various directions was reported.
The meeting also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
