President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Thonglun Sisulit on October 23 in Kazan.

Axar.az reports that the President of Laos emphasized the good relations between his country and Azerbaijan and noted the existence of favorable prospects for the development of cooperation in economy, trade, investment, tourism, agriculture and other fields.

Thonglun Sisulit recalled with pleasure that he was in Baku in 1981 and emphasized that during the past period, Azerbaijan has passed a great path of development. He thanked many Lao specialists for studying in Azerbaijan during the Soviet era, and said that even today those persons contribute to the development of the country by working as ministers, deputy ministers and other leading positions in Laos.

Thonglun Sisulit invited the head of state to visit Laos.

Expressing gratitude for the kind words, the President of Azerbaijan thanked for the invitation.

The head of state noted the establishment of a relevant working group and the organization of mutual visits of government delegations consisting of experts for the development of relations between the countries in the fields of economy, trade, and energy.

President Ilham Aliyev touched upon the possibilities of Azerbaijan's continued support to Laos in the field of education.

At the meeting, it was emphasized that the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Laos will be celebrated next year, and the cooperation of the countries within the framework of international organizations was noted.
