The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva held a meeting with the delegation led by the Deputy Secretary of the Central Commission for Disciplinary Inspection of the Communist Party of the People's Republic of China and the Deputy Chairman of the National Supervisory Commission Liu Xuexin.

It was reported that during the meeting, the Commissioner said that the cooperative relations between Azerbaijan and China were developed at a high level in various fields, and a number of important joint projects were implemented by both countries.

The Ombudsman gave extensive information to the guest about the mandate, activities in the direction of protection of human rights and freedoms, as well as positive experiences. Emphasizing that international cooperation plays an important role in the further improvement of this activity, the Commissioner said that there are effective cooperation relations with various international institutions, as well as member institutions within the framework of the Asian Ombudsman Association, of which he is the vice president.

The ombudsman also drew attention to the signing of memorandums of understanding with the ombudsman and national human rights institutions of a number of foreign countries, the implementation of a number of important projects, and said that he is interested in expanding relations with the Central Commission for Disciplinary Inspection of the Communist Party of the People's Republic of China in this direction.

The commissioner noted that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) will be held in our country in the coming days, and noted that the organization of panel discussions by the Ombudsman institution is planned during this period.

Liu Xuexin, Deputy Secretary of the Central Commission for Disciplinary Inspection of the Communist Party of the People's Republic of China and Vice Chairman of the National Inspection Commission, expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome. He recalled with pleasure that the meeting of the heads of state of the two countries was held this year, and the Joint Declaration on the establishment of strategic partnership between the countries was adopted. He noted that he is interested in expanding the relations between the national human rights institutions of Azerbaijan and China.

At the meeting, a wide range of views were exchanged on a number of other issues of mutual interest.
