This is our second contact. We first met in December in Malta. Today, after a nine-year break, we welcome the visit of the High Representative of the European Union to Azerbaijan. This visit represents a significant opportunity to evaluate the current state and prospects of our relations.
Axar.az reports this was stated by Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov during a joint press conference with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, held on April 25.
The Minister noted that agreement had been reached on 90 percent of the issues discussed during negotiations between Azerbaijan and the European Union in recent years. “However, there has been some stagnation in the process. Today, this issue was addressed, and it was agreed that both sides will take practical steps forward,” the Foreign Minister emphasized.
Jeyhun Bayramov added that the agreement could be further enriched.
“The European Union is one of Azerbaijan’s main trade partners. Currently, our trade turnover amounts to 20 billion US dollars,” he said.
