Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Aykhan Hajizada has harshly criticized Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie for being biased and ignoring the crimes committed by Armenia against the Azerbaijani people.

Axar.az reports that the Foreign Ministry official shared this on the social network.

He accused the Canadian minister of promoting the interests of the Armenian diaspora to the detriment of the national interests of his country.

"Instead of prioritizing national interests and maintaining trust in the international arena, Canada is participating in the defense of the interests of the Armenian National Committee, which raises serious questions about the judgment and awareness required of the Foreign Minister.

Unfortunately, you have still not recognized the suffering of more than a million Azerbaijanis who have suffered from ethnic cleansing, mass murders, atrocities, erasure of cultural heritage and other crimes against humanity committed by Armenia. How accurately it has been said: Prejudice is like a shadow, it darkens the mind," Hajizada said.

He reminded the Canadian minister of the importance of relying on facts:

"A small reminder: always rely on facts, not false narratives of the Armenian diaspora."

Speaking about Azerbaijan's local anti-terrorist measures in 2023, the Foreign Ministry representative noted that this operation was legal and proportionate:

"Azerbaijan's anti-terrorist measures in 2023 were a legal and proportionate response to the provocations of illegal Armenian armed formations on the territory of Azerbaijan. The operation, which lasted less than 24 hours, was aimed at neutralizing these formations and infrastructure and was fully consistent with international humanitarian law.

The civilian population and infrastructure were not targeted, and the departure of Armenian residents from the region was their voluntary decision."
