China has acknowledged receiving proposals from the U.S. to begin trade talks and is currently evaluating them, signaling a possible softening in its stance amid ongoing tensions over President Donald Trump’s tariff policies.

Axar.az, citing CNN, reports that Beijing insists any negotiations require U.S. sincerity, including reversing tariff hikes.

Trump recently raised tariffs on Chinese goods to 145%, prompting China to retaliate with 125% tariffs.

The resulting trade war has severely impacted China’s export-driven economy, with factory activity shrinking and U.S. imports from China expected to drop sharply.

Despite recent signs of flexibility from Trump, Beijing remains firm, demanding the removal of all tariffs before talks can begin.
