Today, together we celebrate the fifth anniversary of a magnificent and perfect Victory that ended the 30-year occupation. I once again commemorate with mercy all the martyrs of the Patriotic War, the brave sons of Azerbaijan. May my Lord rest the souls of our martyrs and, I hope, make their places in heaven.

Axar.az reports that these words were spoken by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during his speech at the military parade dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the Victory in the Patriotic War.

He recited a poem by the People's Poet of Azerbaijan, Mammad Araz, and said: "Mammad Araz expressed the love of the Azerbaijani Turk for the Motherland in this way:

Today,

Every moment of ours should say "Homeland!"

Our sword, our shield should say "Homeland!"

Instead of the dead,

Our remaining ones should say "Homeland!"

Every feeling, every accent of our heart should say "Homeland!"

It doesn't matter where we are

Our time, our place

Let it say "Homeland!"

I express my gratitude to our heroic veterans whose hearts beat for the Motherland on every journey, and I say, may God Almighty be pleased with them."
