The national flag of our country was raised in New York, USA, on November 8, the 5th anniversary of Azerbaijan's Victory in the Patriotic War, and on November 9, National Flag Day.

Axar.az reports that our tricolor flag is hanging from a giant flagpole in Bowling Green Park, located on Wall Street, one of the most visited streets by tourists, which is considered a symbol of New York City and the financial center.

The flag-raising ceremony was organized by the Azerbaijan-New York Association.

The ceremony organized on this occasion in Bowling Green Park, known as the giant flag square, was actively attended by Salhat Abbasova, the head of the Department of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora, activists of the Azerbaijani diaspora, and Azerbaijani students studying in the United States.

The speeches spoke about the historical significance of November 8 - Victory Day, and it was noted that for five years now, the Azerbaijani people have been experiencing the pride and joy of the victory that they have been waiting for for nearly 30 years. It was stated that the Azerbaijani people united like a fist during the 44-day Patriotic War. The Azerbaijani people wrote history with their martyrs who achieved a great victory at the expense of their lives and blood. The dear memory of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland will live forever in the hearts of our people.

Then, our tricolor flag was raised to the New York sky to the sounds of our National Anthem, and the flags of Azerbaijan and the United States waved together in the sky.

The ceremony also attracted the attention of the local population and tourists, who took pictures against the background of our flag. Our compatriots gave them information about Azerbaijan.

It should be noted that "Bowling Green", the first official park of New York City and known as a giant flag square, will host the Azerbaijani flag for 10 days starting today.
