Azerbaijan maintains contact with embassy amid Mexico unrest

Azerbaijan is maintaining regular contact with its embassy regarding the recent events in Mexico.

Axar.az reports that Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said this in a statement to journalists.

The minister noted that there have been no reports of requests or appeals from Azerbaijani citizens:

“The embassy is fully operational. We have also seen statements from the Mexican authorities regarding steps to restore order,” he said.

It is worth noting that Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, also known as “El Mencho,” the leader of one of Mexico’s largest criminal organizations, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, was killed in a military operation. After the operation, cartel members set fire to numerous vehicles in Jalisco and other states, and clashes broke out between security forces and cartel members.
