EU lifts sanctions on Azerbaijani ships -

Under a decision adopted yesterday by the Council of the European Union, sanctions imposed on the vessel “Zagatala,” owned by Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company, as well as on the vessels “Shusha,” “Karabakh,” “Khankendi,” and “Zangazur,” jointly operated by Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) and the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic, have been lifted.

Axar.az informs that, according to ASCO, the vessels have been removed from the European Union’s sanctions list.

The decision was achieved through coordinated diplomatic and legal efforts involving the Presidential Administration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, ASCO, and SOCAR.

The ships had been leased to third parties under long-term charter agreements and were operated in full compliance with international regulations, including applicable sanctions requirements. The move has been described as the result of an objective, law-based approach and constructive dialogue.

ASCO stated that, as an international shipping operator, it will continue its activities in strict compliance with national legislation, international law, and all relevant sanctions regimes.
