Dogs named after Prince and Meghan Markle have royal wedding

A couple of dogs named after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have had their own royal wedding in Scotland.

Newfoundland puppy Prince Harry and springer spaniel Maeghan got hitched at a special doggy ceremony in the village of Leslie, Fife. The pooch pair enjoyed a furrytail wedding at Harry’s owners’- Andrea Johnston, 64, and her daughter Stacey Kilpatrick, 30 – back garden. Maeghan is owned by Helen Teevan, 50.

The two pups met after Andrea and Stacey put out a search for a partner for Harry, after worrying that he might be a bit lonely. He’d had a major surgery on his cruciate ligament, and his owners thought life was too short and went on the hunt for his own princess. After finding Harry online, Helen put her dog, Maeghan, forward, thinking the pair would be perfect together – and they were. Soon after meeting, all three owners came together to start planning the royal pooch wedding.

Helen said: ‘When we heard that Harry was looking for his Meghan we thought it would be a bit of a laugh and so put our gorgeous girl forward. ‘We were amazed when she was picked but so glad Maeghan will be Harry’s special furbie friend.’ Last year, the royalist owners of Harry were sent best wishes from Kensington Palace and his human namesake when they wrote to inform them of the inspiration behind his name last year. Stacey could not handle her excitement over the pet equivalent of this weekend’s big wedding.

She said: ‘We were so excited about the alternative Royal Wedding. We love the Royal family and even named our beloved Harry after Prince Harry.’ Elaine Warburton, of dog holiday company Barking Mad, helped hook the two pooches up.

She said: ‘We all adore our Prince Harry. He’s such a gorgeous, friendly boy and is always happy despite having to undergo major surgery on his cruciate ligament in late 2017. ‘The holiday host he stays with absolutely loves looking after him when Stacey and Andrea go away.’ The royal ‘wedding’ was a success, with Harry nervously waiting at the top of the aisle for his stunning bride to come running down the aisle. The pups woofed their own doggy ‘I dos’ and are now going to live happily ever after in royal doggy bliss.
