A new type of coronavirus is a virus that spreads very rapidly. Despite the very serious anti-epidemic measures carried out in our country, the number of coronavirus patients is increasing as a result of many people's non-compliance with sanitary and hygienic rules.
Axar.az reports that according to the Medical Territorial Units Management Association (MEDA), coronavirus infection is more aggressive and severe in the elderly, especially in people with co-morbidities. However, if young people have co-morbidities, the disease can be severe or fatal. Antiviral treatments are not effective in these individuals.
Immune plasma used for the treatment of convalescent plasma applied to critically ill patients all over the world is prepared in our country at the National Center for Hematology and Transfusiology. People who have recovered from a coronavirus infection can donate to critically ill patients. We currently have patients on artificial respiration who are in critical condition. Experience has shown that convalescent plasma treatment is very effective for these patients.
Convalescent Plasma infusions were administered 21 times with immune plasma from nine donors to 15 critically ill patients already being treated at various pandemic hospitals. Specialists observed positive dynamics in four patients and improvement in three patients. Immune plasma treatment can be repeated in many patients. Donors can donate plasma again after 14 days.
