The Minister of Emergencies of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Kamaladdin Heydarov, met with the delegation led by Hua Liu, Deputy Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (AEBA), who is visiting our country within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - COP29.

Axar.az reports that warmly welcoming the guests, Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov noted the importance of the COP29 held in Baku as the next historical success of our country under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev.

The minister talked about the increasing development of bilateral cooperation relations since 2001, when our country became a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and talked about the activities of the State Agency for the Regulation of Nuclear and Radiological Activities of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, which performs regulatory functions in the field of nuclear and radiological activity in our republic. Speaking about the benefits of joint projects implemented with the organization, including training and seminars, the minister said that meetings and discussions at various levels contribute to relations.

Expressing gratitude for the cordial meeting, AEBA Deputy Director General Hua Liu emphasized that Azerbaijan organized COP29 at a high level. The guest expressed his satisfaction with the rapid development of relations between the Azerbaijan Ministry of Emergency Situations, which is the national coordinating body, and the measures taken in the field of nuclear and radiological security in our country.

At the meeting, a wide range of views were exchanged on issues of mutual interest.
