Axar.az reports that Leyla Aliyeva, speaking at the opening of the event held within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), welcomed the guests and emphasized the magnitude of the damage caused to our planet by climate change and the loss of biodiversity, and called for urgent measures to be taken by the international community. noted that it is necessary. The event participants were informed about a number of animal species in the South Caucasus, especially in Azerbaijan, including the Caspian tiger and the Asian lion, which lived in the past but became extinct.
Leyla Aliyeva noted that since 2011, a number of projects and measures have been implemented by IDEA PU to protect the unique nature and ecological balance of our country. The discussion participants were informed about the "Big Five of the Caucasus", protection of bison, gazelles and Caspian sturgeons, as well as numerous activities carried out together with thousands of volunteers.
