Although I sense a tendency towards agreement on climate finance among the countries participating in COP29, disagreements still remain," UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said during a press conference held in video format as part of COP29.

Axar.az reports that he emphasized that the delegations at various meetings within the framework of COP29 are making great efforts to reach a common agreement: "Because disagreements still exist, the parties need to come to a consensus to reach a final outcome. Everyone must understand that the refusal to agree on climate finance can never be seen as a solution to the current situation.

On the contrary, this issue could jeopardize short-term efforts and delay the preparation of new national plans to combat climate change. The objectives, which are intended to be implemented using various components, should be determined with consideration of the financial needs of developing countries.

Of course, financial resources must be allocated at a level that enables all countries to achieve their climate goals and ensures protection from the harmful effects of climate change, while also strengthening trust between nations."
