Azerbaijan held another charity event in Syria.
Axar.az reports that according to the information provided by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Syria, on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, an aid event was organized under the slogan "Sincerest congratulations from the people of Azerbaijan to the brotherly people of Syria" in the devastated provinces of Damascus, Homs and Homs on June 7-8.
On the initiative and organization of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Syrian Arab Republic, as well as with the relevant support of the Azerbaijan International Development Assistance Agency (AIDA), sacrificial meat was distributed to 320 families affected by the war. The Syrian "Hayat" Foundation, as well as volunteer groups "Sawaidul Ihsan" (kind hands) and "Basmatu Hayat" (smile of life), also participated in organizing the charity event.
The first day of the charity campaign, which included families of Arab, Turkmen, Circassian, and Alawite origin, took place in the Western and Eastern Ghouta districts of the Damascus suburbs, and the next day in the Homs and Homs suburbs. The vast majority of these families were women with many children who had lost their husbands as a result of the long-lasting civil war. In total, approximately 1,500 people benefited from the aforementioned aid activity over the two days.
The families to whom the sacrificial gifts were presented expressed their deep gratitude to the people and state of Azerbaijan and conveyed their best wishes.
In accordance with the relevant instruction of President Ilham Aliyev, it is planned to continue the humanitarian aid activities organized on behalf of our country for the Syrian population.
It is worth noting that at the end of last year, the Republic of Azerbaijan sent 200 tons of humanitarian aid to the Syrian people. In addition, with the support of AIDA and the organization of our embassy in Syria, iftar meals were organized for 1,000 orphaned children in Damascus on March 25-27 of this year.
