The opening of the Zangezur corridor will bring significant benefits to the countries located along its route.
Axar.az reports that this is stated in an analytical report of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan.
“The corridor allows you to shorten the route from Azerbaijan to Turkiye. Within the framework of the existing Baku-Tbilisi-Kars route, freight trains travel about 250 km through the territory of Georgia. The new route has been significantly shortened: after the construction of roads to the village of Aghbend on the border with Azerbaijan is completed, the distance between Azerbaijan and Turkiye will be shortened by 343 kilometers. This will lead to savings in time and financial costs, and will also reduce the delivery time of goods by about a day compared to the route through Georgia,” it said.
