Mesut Ozil has given the clearest indication yet that he going to commit his future to Arsenal.
Axar.az reports citing The Sun.
The German midfielder’s current deal ends next season and speculation has been rife that he could leave the Emirates in the summer after another underwhelming season.
But Ozil, 28, insists he is happy with the Gunners and he will begin talks over a new deal with club chiefs in the near future.
Ozil told Die Welt: “I am contracted until 2018 and I feel very comfortable.
“We’ll talk soon and then make a decision.”
Arsenal have been criticised after yet again seeing their challenge for the Premier League go up in smoke as well as being humiliated by Bayern Munich an knocked out of the Champions League.
Boss Arsene Wenger has come under increasing pressure from fans to leave the club at the end of the season.
But Ozil is sure the Gunners will get back to their best and be in the running to finish in the top four and blames a lack of confidence on a string of poor results this year.
Ozil – who has returned to training with Germany after a back injury – added: “Of course, we have had a difficult time recently and we are not satisfied with sixth place.
“I am convinced, however, that we will catch up again soon. Let’s see what the future holds.”
