Baku meets all requirements for F1

Organizers' choosing Baku for holding the Formula 1 shows that Azerbaijan's capital meets all the necessary requirements for hosting this race, moscow-baku.ru website quoted Russian F1 driver Vitaly Petrov as saying.

The Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe will be held June 17-19 in Baku.

Petrov, who is the first Russian racer who participated in the F1 championship as the main driver, recalled that Fernando Alonso, a Spanish Formula 1 racing driver and a two-time champion and other drivers have already visited Baku several times.

"Judging by what I hear about the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe in Baku, everyone will be pleasantly surprised by what they see," added Petrov.

Drivers like newly-built tracks, they like to change locations, race on new tracks where races haven't been held before, according to Petrov.

Organizers always have a serious attitude to the selection of a country which will host the Formula 1, since there are clear rules which the host country should comply with, he said, adding that it is about the potential to construct the track, the whole infrastructure and other aspects.
