A fire broke out in Tsitsernakabert Park, a so-called "genocide" monument to Armenians in Yerevan.

Axar.az reports citing Armenian media that the fire was seen in many parts of Yerevan.

Regarding the fire that started at night, Armenian Minister of Emergency Situations Felix Colakyan said that the fire at the Karen Demirchiyan sports and concert complex near the "genocide" monument - Chichernakaberd complex - was caused by fireworks.

20 brigades were called to the scene and localized at night.

The fire covered an area of 21 hectares.
