Azerbaijan observes a minute of silence -

On December 25th, a minute of silence was observed across the country at 12:00 PM in memory of those who lost their lives in the plane crash near the city of Aktau, Kazakhstan involving an AZAL-owned aircraft.

Axar.az reports that people paid their respects to the victims of the crash with a minute of silence.

State flags were lowered, traffic was halted, military ships lined up on the Caspian Sea coast continuously sounded their horns, and salvo fire was fired.

It should be noted that out of the 67 people on board the plane, 42 were from Azerbaijan, 16 from Russia, 6 from Kazakhstan, and 3 from Kyrgyzstan. Of them, 38 lost their lives, and 29 survived.

Following the incident, President Ilham Aliyev ordered the formation of a State Commission, led by Prime Minister Ali Asadov, to investigate the cause of the crash.

By the relevant decree of the President, December 26th was declared a day of mourning in Azerbaijan.
