Armenia consulate closed in Russia’s Yekaterinburg

The Armenian diplomatic mission in Yekaterinburg, Russia has been closed after seven years of operation.

Axar.az informs accordin to Armenian media, Gagik Mkhitaryan, chairman of the Chelyabinsk chapter of the Union of Armenians of Russia, informed on Telegram.

Earlier, the Armenian foreign ministry had dismissed Narek Spartakyan from the post of Honorary Consul of Armenia in Yekaterinburg.

“For all questions, please contact other consular offices of the Republic of Armenia in Russia,” the respective statement had said.

Spartakyan was dismissed from the aforementioned position in early August. The official reason was not specified, but the media reported that the dismissal could be related to the consul’s disagreement with the actions of the Armenian authorities towards the Armenian Apostolic Church.
