Peace in the South Caucasus is a “strategic priority” for Iran.

Axar.az informs according to Armenian media, President Masoud Pezeshkian said this at a joint press conference with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan.

“Peace in the South Caucasus is a strategic priority for Iran, and we support the peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Pezeshkian said.

“Iran’s position has been the unchangeability of borders because we believe that such changes could cause geopolitical competition,” he added.

He said Iran wishes peace to its neighbors.

“We have always defended Armenia’s territorial integrity, that’s our policy, and we oppose any use of force in the region,” the Iranian President said.

He reiterated that Tehran opposes the involvement of non-regional forces in the region. He said issues in the South Caucasus must be resolved by the regional countries.
