Presidential elections are underway in Northern Cyprus

Presidential elections are being held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Axar.az reports that voting began at 8:00 and will continue until 18:00.

A total of 777 polling stations have been established across the country for the election. Candidates must collect 50% + 1% of the vote in the first round to be elected president. If any of the candidates fail to obtain this majority, a second round will be held in the country within seven days.

Seven candidates are participating in the election, five of whom are independent. The current president, Ersin Tatar, is running as an independent candidate this time.
